little things

LITTLE THINGS by John R. Little (trade paperback edition)

John R. Little has been publishing his unique brand of short stories for almost 30 years. Little Things is a retrospective of his career, containing his best work. The stories in this collection will make you feel a sense of wonder. Some will shock you, make you sad, bring laughter, scare you, and they will sear into your memory. The author is the winner of the Bram Stoker award and the Black Quill award for his book Miranda.

John R. Little is blessed with both amazing talent and a fantastic imagination. Always a treat to read. If you miss him, you’re missing something good. — Brian Keene, Bram Stoker-winning author of A Gathering of Crows.

John Little is one of those writers who the rest of us envy—he’s a visionary, with personal obsessions (time, love, even cruelty) that define his work while continually refreshing it. His stories are disturbing, uplifting, thought-provoking, exciting, melancholy, horrifying, and sweet… all at once. John’s one of the great magicians of modern genre literature, and we’re lucky to share this time frame with him. — Lisa Morton, Bram Stoker-winning author of The Lucid Dreaming

JOHN EVERSON SIREN LIMITED EDITION HARDCOVER FOR PRE-ORDER!

SIREN

SIREN by JOHN EVERSON (limited edition hardcover)

Music can transport you to the depths and heights of emotion. Music can make life worth living. Music can steal your soul. Evan’s soul is dead as he walks the empty Northern California beach every night.

Petrified of the water all his life, he’s never recovered from seeing his son drown in the ocean’s waves. But then one night, he hears a song on the beach. A beautiful, tortuously emotional melody that leads him right to the brink of the surf. That’s when the music ends, and a gorgeous nude woman dives off the black rocks to disappear in the waves. His fears for her safety are allayed when she returns the next night to sing again…only this time, he’s touched by more than her song…

He’s touched by something that won’t let him go…

“Siren is a richly lyrical and melancholic meditation on loss and desperate yearning. It is also a superbly effective exercise in soul-ripping terror. Modern horror doesn’t get much better than this”. — Bryan Smith, author of Depraved and The Killing Kind

“With Siren, John Everson brings horror fiction back to its roots: scary, sexy and surprising. His best work yet”! — Jonathan Maberry, multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author of The Wolfman and The Dragon Factory

LONG AWAITED REPRINT OF THE MEMORY TREE BY JOHN R. LITTLE!

memory

THE MEMORY TREE BY JOHN R. LITTLE (trade paperback edition)

Now back in print for the first time. A heartbreaking story of love and evil. NEW introduction by Ronald Kelly, additional material from the original.

Sam Ellis is a middle-aged stock broker living in Seattle, successful, married to a woman he dearly loves, with everything he could want. But below the surface, there are scars. Then his world changes. For reasons he doesn’t understand, Sam is thrust back in time to 1968, the summer he turned thirteen. He meets his parents and his own childhood self. That summer changed Sam’s world. Monsters walked the streets of his hometown, and now Sam will come face to face with those monsters again, this time as an adult. Nothing will ever be the same.
John R. Little achieves something rare and wondrous with The Memory Tree.
Writers work their entire lives in the hopes of one day producing something this
astonishing. The Memory Tree is a privilege to experience.
Gary A. Braunbeck, author of Far Dark Fields
Little’s elegantly crafted, stripped-down prose sustains a quietly powerful
meditation on the ghosts of memory and will appeal to anyone
harboring a secret yen to exorcise childhood demons.
— Booklist
The Memory Tree is a beautifully written and well-plotted story.
— Thomas F. Monteleone

BRUCE BOSTON DARK MATTERS UP FOR PRE-ORDER.!

boston

DARK MATTERS BY BRUCE BOSTON (trade paperback edition)

A collection of dark poetry by one of the industry’s finest craftsman. Beautifully illustrated by Daniele Serra.

Whether he’s writing about an errant siren, a grimoire, a vulture, or the apocalyptic implosion of our way of life, Boston does it with stunning and unexpected complexity. There is a sense of completeness to his poems, a sense that he has turned the thing around and looked at it from every angle. He offers insights that are startling in their clarity, and—after he’s shown them to us—completely logical. This is a laudable achievement in and of itself, but the fact that he can balance his eye for detail and his intuition about character with a poet’s ear for the lyrical joy of language is awe-inspiring.
— Joe McKinney, author of Dead City and Quarantined

Dark Matters places an extraordinary gallery before us—rat people and robovamps, dystopias and surreal landscapes— rendered in all the rich colors of Bruce Boston’s vivid wordpalette.
Whether he’s speculating on the dead who come to us in our dreams (“Like Scarlet Birds Screeching”) or taking us on a journey to a unique version of hell (“From the Damnation
Cemetery”), every piece here brightens and expands what Boston calls “the bereft vocabulary of our lives.” There’s no one in American poetry quite like Bruce Boston, and Dark Matters is
one of his best.
— Christopher Conlon, author of Starkweather Dreams and
Midnight on Mourn Street

March Blog

Hello loyal customers and soon to be customers.

Well, March is nearly over and I am just now getting around to writing this blog. It has been a busy month and the next few look to be even more hectic. I would like to start off by congratulating all of the 2009 Bram Stoker Award winners which were announced last night in Brighton England. Bad Moon Books had 3 of the 4 books up for long fiction story of the year, Lisa Morton’s “The Lucid Dreaming”; Gene O’Neill’s “Doc Good’s Traveling Show”; and Scott Edelman’s “The Hunger of Empty Vessels”. Lisa was the winner and we are so proud of all of our BMB authors! Man, I wish I could have been in Brighton as I am hearing nothing but RAVE reviews for this year’s WHC!

March saw the release of Logan Savile’s (Steven Savile and Brian M. Logan’s) “Monster Town/The Butcher of Box Hill” flip book, the re-issue of Bram Stoker Award winning “Miranda ” by John R. Little, Lisa Mannetti’s “51 Fiendish Ways to Leave Your Lover” (actually late Feb.), and Michael L. Calvillo’s “Blood & Gristle”. A banner month to be sure. If you have not already, you might want to grab one of each and place them firmly atop your TBR pile!

April will be a bit slower but we will be releasing  an AMAZING novella by Erik Williams called “Blood Spring”. One of my proof readers LOVED this book and likened it to Richard Laymon’s “The Wilds”. We will also be well on our way to releasing the amazing novel by David Niall Wilson titled “Vintage Soul”. If you have not ordered that one, now would be a good time as you will be entered into a drawing to win a ONE-OF-A-KIND leather bound edition of the book! We will also receive the lettered editions of Michael L. Calvillo’s “As Fate Would Have It” in April.

KILLERCON II is in Vegas again this year and we will be attending. It will be August 26-29th at the Palace Station Hotel. Off the strip, but close enough so you can get into all kinds of trouble.

If you have never checked out our store at Horror Mall, now would be a good time to get over there. Each day Liz adds tons of new books, some rare, one of a kind, some new, some old. Check it out.  https://www.horror-mall.com/badmoonbks/

Well, that’s it for now. As always thanks for continuing to buy our books, and helping us continue to do what we love. We have been selling books via catalog, bookstore and online now for over 28 years!

God bless, Roy
