Synopsis on THE STORM

Ten years ago, John Fresk’s older brother disappeared and has since been presumed dead.

Now, a storm blows through the town of Glowers Hook, Ohio. For John, the storm changes everything. He is unable to leave the perimeter of his parents’ farm. Their house has collapsed, trapping his mother in the cellar beneath the rubble. He finds his father’s corpse, horribly mutilated. But he is not alone on the farm. A girl named Heather Duvall is trapped there with him. Together, they work to free John’s mother from the rubble, but Heather tells John that he must be restrained after dark. She says he becomes a monster at night. Is she telling the truth or is she the monster? Can they survive each other long enough to find freedom? Does all of this have anything to do with his brother’s disappearance?

The Storm is a gory trip through familiar horror territory with a surreal, mind-bending conclusion all its own.

Cargo Cult Announces VALLEY OF THE DEAD by Kim Paffenroth (Limited Edition)

For seventeen years of his life, the whereabouts of the medieval Italian poet Dante Alighieri is unknown to modern scholars. All we know is that during this time, he traveled as an exile across Europe, while working on his epic poem, The Divine Comedy. In his masterpiece he describes a journey through the three realms of the afterlife. The volume describing hell, Inferno, is the most famous of the the three.

Valley of the Dead is the real story behind Inferno. In his wanderings, Dante stumbles on a zombie infestation, and the things he sees there – people being devoured, burned alive, boiled in pitch, torn apart by dogs, eviscerated, impaled, crucified, etc. – become the basis of all the horrors he describes in Inferno. Afraid to be labeled a madman, Dante made the terrors he witnessed into a more “believable” account of an otherworldly adventure with demons and mythological monsters, but now the real story can finally be told.
